With less than two weeks away from the upcoming state election in Negeri Sembilan, various political parties are gearing up for the action and installing party flags and banners at every corner.
Sadly, the act of putting up a party flag ended in tragedy for a young man after he was allegedly killed in a hit-and-run involving a lorry.
Hit by lorry
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place on Jalan Kuala Sawah–Rantau in Kampung Belangkan, Rantau at around 6.40pm on Sunday (July 19).
In a statement by Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yatim Osman, he said preliminary investigations found that the 23-year-old victim was standing on the left road shoulder heading towards Rantau while installing party flags.
A lorry, whose registration number has yet to be identified, is then believed to have crashed into a signpost before hitting the victim.
The crash’s impact caused the victim to fall onto the road shoulder and suffer facial and head injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are now looking for the lorry driver, who allegedly fled the scene after hitting the victim.
