Residents in Bandar Mahkota Cheras had a rude awakening this morning in the form of body, believed to be that of a foreigner’s, being dumped at a stone bench in a park near the area.
The incident was confirmed by Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, but further details have yet to be revealed, reported Sin Chew Daily.
CCTV footage sheds more light
China Press later gained access to CCTV footage which showed what had transpired prior to the discovery of the body.
In the clip, three men, all of whom are reportedly Myanmar nationals, were seen carrying the victim out from an alley.
Upon reaching the junction, they noticed several vehicles passing by and put the body down to avoid attracting unwanted attention.
Once the road was clear, they picked up the body again and carried it across the street before placing it on a stone bench.
The footage also showed two of the men sitting on the bench while the third stood nearby, seemingly discussing their next move.
After remaining beside the body for several minutes, they left the scene, leaving the victim lying in front of the stone bench.
Two of the suspects have since been identified by police.
Notorious area
A resident told China Press that the park was a popular gathering spot for foreign workers, where they sometimes become intoxicated and get into fights.
He believes this may have led to a dispute and subsequent demise of the victim, who suffered several stab wounds to his abdomen.
He said another resident who came across the victim initially thought he had blacked out due to intoxication, but was shocked to realise he was actually dead.
The victim’s body was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem examination and police are currently investigating the case.
