Former Prime Minister and Getaran Tanah Air (GTA) president Mahathir bin Mohamad has recently taken to social media and announced that he will be making a special announcement at 9pm today.
According to the post, members of the public can view the live stream at Pejuang’s Facebook and his personal social media account.
GTA will be contesting in 121 parliamentary seats in the upcoming General Election (GE15), where the former PM will be defending his Langkawi seat.
‘Just rest and retire lah!’
However, the post wasn’t well received by many, with many netizens telling the 97-year-old to retire.
“Tun, take a rest. We Malaysians recognise your contribution during your glory days. Now is the time for you to enjoy your life, play with your grandchildren, go places that you wish to go, and spend more time with your loved ones.
“Politics is just too taxing for you considering you age. I am very sure most Malaysians would love to see you have a good retirement.”
Another wrote that Mahathir should focus on the issues currently faced by hhis party before ending it with “Hidup BN” (Long live BN).
Others found it tiresome to see Mahathir being active in the political scene once again and said that it was a waste of time.
