Lotus’s urges M’sians not to panic buy cooking oil, reassures of having sufficient supply

Stay calm and buy what you need.

PETALING JAYA – Lotus’s Malaysia has assured its customers that there are plenty of cooking oil to go around and urged them not to panic buy in a Facebook post.

It also added that there are sufficient stock of 1kg and 5kg cooking oil up for purchase at all its stores.

However, each customer will only be allowed to buy up to three bags of 1kg cooking oil and two bottles of 5kg cooking oil in order to maintain a continuous supply.

This comes after the New Straits Times reported that there was a shortage of cooking oil at supermarkets across the Klang Valley following the government’s decision to abolish subsidies for cooking oil starting July 1.

Still not enough

Despite Lotus’s reassurances, netizens were unconvinced and claimed that it didn’t do enough to prevent the hoarding of cooking oil.

However, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi dismissed these claims, adding that authorities found sufficient supply at Lotus’s stores at Ara Damansara, Kuala Selangor and Wangsa Walk
