A Singaporean man is at his wits’ end following weeks of harassment by a group of loan sharks who hounded him for a sum of money they claimed he still owed.
The tactics included delivering a funeral wreath and bags of cement to his home, along with setting up a poster which doxxed his personal details.
‘God of Fortune’ poster placed at lift along with personal info
According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident took place at the void deck of Block 476B Yishun Street 44 last Thursday (Nov 20).
As for the poster, it featured an image of the ‘God of Fortune’ as well as the man’s photo pasted at the bottom left corner.

The poster also showed the man’s full address was listed and a text inviting people to go upstairs if they were looking to join a “meditation retreat”.
A note was also attached to the poster, where it accused the man of “using the reputation of God to defraud the good believers” in exchange for money and sex.
It also revealed the names and phone numbers of the man, who was referred to as the “master”, along with an “assistant” and two “partners”.

The poster was eventually removed by police after the man’s father saw it and alerted his son, who then lodged a report.
Already repaid RM25,400 debt
The man named Huang (transliteration) told Shin Min that the poster was a tactic deployed by the loan sharks to harass him.
He revealed he had borrowed S$8,000 (approx. RM25,400) earlier this year and had paid it off. However, the loan sharks demanded that he cough up another S$10,000 (approx. RM31,800).
“The same night (when I made the police report), the loan sharks harassed me over text, threatening to make my life miserable in various ways if I did not pay them back.
“In the past, I had a funeral wreath and bags of cement being delivered to my doorstep by loan sharks,” he added.

‘Leave my family alone’
Huang said he resorted to borrowing from loan sharks after his logistics company fell apart and caused him to lose his initial investment.
He added that the financial pressure to care for his three children made the burden all the heavier.
I had no other choice but to borrow money, but I ended up in a bottomless pit. What hurts me most is that I’ve dragged my wife and children down with me.
“I feel powerless to do anything. All I wish is that they will not implicate my family, and stop the harassment.”
