Victor, the official sportswear sponsor for national shuttler Lee Zii Jia, has found itself in hot water after a viral clip showed Lee changing into a jersey which featured an upside-down Jalur Gemilang on it.
Following the incident, it took to social media to express regret for the mistake and vowed not to repeat it in the future.
Lee Zii Jia wears jersey with upside-down Jalur Gemilang
In the said clip, Lee is seen rummaging through his bag for a fresh set of jersey to change into during his match against Taiwan’s world No. 9 shuttler Chou Tien Chen at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China.
Before he changed into the new jersey, Lee was wearing one that had the Jalur Gemilang in the correct position.

However, when he changed into the new jersey, it had the Jalur Gemilang in an inverted position, something which Lee failed to realise as he had to return to the match, which he later won with a 21-13, 21-15 score.
Victor: ‘We meant no disrespect to M’sia’
Not long after the clip went viral, Victor took to its X account to release a statement regarding the issue.
In the statement, it wrote that it was deeply sorry for the mistake and apologised to Lee and Malaysian badminton fans.

This mistake does not reflect our deep respect for Malaysia, its national symbols, or the pride and honour of representing the nation on the international stage.
“The Malaysian flag embodies unity and identity, and we deeply regret any unintended disrespect caused by this oversight,” it said.
Victor also said that it would review its processes in order to prevent such errors in the future.
