Recently, Malaysian badminton star Lee Zii Jia clinched the first spot for having the fastest smash speed in the men’s category, clocking in at a staggering 497.1 km/h at 2024 BWF Badminton Malaysia Masters.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) unveiled a leaderboard on their Instagram page showcasing the fastest smashes across five categories, drawing data from the 2024 BWF Badminton Malaysia Masters.
In the men’s singles category, Lee Zii Jia not only clinched the top spot but also dominated the chart with his name appearing five times.
Lee Zii Jia’s impressive feats include:
- 1st place: 497.1 km/h
- 3rd place: 482.1 km/h
- 4th place: 470.7 km/h
- 5th place: 455.7 km/h
- 10th place: 417.6 km/h
Furthermore, Lee Zii Jia’s smash speed of 497.1 km/h is not just the fastest in the men’s category, but it is also the highest recorded speed across all five categories.
