A total of two gunshots were fired at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA 1) during the early morning hours today (Apr 14), causing people to panic and flee for their lives.
The shootout also caused a bodyguard to suffer severe injuries after he was hit by the gunshots.

Man tried to kill wife at KLIA
According to a statement by Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, he said the incident occurred at 1.30am and involved a man whose intended target was his wife.
“At the time of the incident, the suspect’s wife was believed to be waiting for umrah pilgrims to return.
The suspect fired two shots at his wife. However, one of the bullets hit a local man who is a bodyguard. After the shooting, the man fled the scene.

“Police have since identified the man and are now tracking him down and investigations found that he has fled up north,” he said.
Hussein said that the shooting wasn’t linked to terrorism and urged the public to remain calm and not make speculations, adding that the situation is “under control and safe”.
The case is now being probed under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and the Firearms Act.
