SHAH ALAM – A month ago, our government announced the “travel bubble” plan to Langkawi, Kedah, for fully vaccinated individuals.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) announced a set of standard operating procedure (SOP) applicable on September 16 for the reopening of Langkawi.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the SOPs allows all domestic tourists. Which also include people from all phases of the National Rehabilitation Plan (PPN).
Today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar tweeted that tourists who flies to Langkawi will not need a letter from Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
However, those visiting from outside Kedah with land transport will need a letter to go through the interstate roadblocks (SJR).

Following the post, netizens asked the Member of Parliament of Rembau when the government intends to open state borders.

Kind Reminder
On the other hand, The Ministry of Health (MOH) has emphasised the importance of SOPs.
Under the domestic tourism bubble pilot project, all prospective visitors to Langkawi are expected to adopt new norms and comply with the stated rules.
In balancing survival from COVID-19 and the country’s economy, Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah called on all parties to play their role to ensure that there is no increase in Covid-19 cases on the holiday island.
“Your cooperation is very much needed,” said Dr Noor Hisham in a post on his Facebook.
