Five passengers were injured after a glass panel shattered inside a Kelana Jaya Line LRT train near Dang Wangi station on Thursday evening (June 4).
According to Rapid KL’s statement, the incident happened at around 6.07pm involving train number 62, which was travelling near Dang Wangi station at the time.
Train stopped suddenly after safety system activated
Rapid KL explained that the train’s automatic safety system was triggered as it was moving out of the station.
As part of its operational safety measures, the train came to an immediate stop.
Following the sudden stop, a passenger who was standing is believed to have lost balance.
The water bottle the passenger was holding then hit a glass panel located at the side of the seating area.
Glass panel shattered, fragments hit passengers
The impact caused the glass panel to break, with fragments hitting several passengers who were seated nearby.

Rapid KL confirmed that five passengers were injured in the incident.
Two of them were taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for further treatment, while the remaining passengers received treatment at the location before continuing their journey.
NST also reported that five passengers were hurt after the passenger’s water bottle smashed into the glass panel inside the train.
Other passengers continued journey from Damai station
Passengers who were not injured were later brought down at Damai station to continue their journey using the next train.
Rapid KL said the train involved in the incident has been removed from service as a precautionary measure so that a detailed technical inspection can be carried out.
“The Kelana Jaya Line continued operating as usual during the incident management period, although there were adjustments to train frequency at several locations after the affected train was taken out of service,“ it said.
Rapid KL investigating incident
Rapid KL said it has started further investigations to identify the cause of the incident.
The operator also advised passengers to hold on to handrails and remain in a stable position throughout their journey, especially when the train is moving or approaching a station.
