Last week, the second batch of rescuers from Malaysia were deployed to Turkey to help rescue efforts after the country was struck by devastating earthquakes.
The team comprised of personnel from the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) personnel, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JPBM), Civil Defense Force (APM) and two K9 dogs, Denti and Frankie.
K9 Dog Denti & officers fall sick
During the mission however, one of the K9 dogs named Denti and four officers experienced health problems and were instructed to rest.
According to Utusan Malaysia, MAS-10 Team Leader Abdul Manaf Che Isa said the four officers suffered from a fever and their hands and shoulders were injured due to the weather.
As for Denti, she was suffering from a flu and has been placed on sick leave as well.
However, Abdul Manaf assured that the rescue mission will not be affected by the minor setback.
