We’ve often been told not to be too engrossed with our handphones especially when we are crossing the road or driving as it can lead us into unwanted trouble.
A woman in Singapore learnt this the hard way in the form of her getting knocked cleanly off her feet by a car while jaywalking and using her phone.
Jaywalking woman gets hit by car & sent flying
In the terrifying dashcam footage shared to the Facebook group Complaint Singapore, it showed a car driving along Bras Basah Road and reaching a traffic light which was green.
As the car neared the traffic light, a woman is seen walking along the pedestrian crossing while looking at her phone and looked up to see the car heading towards her.

But it proved to be too late as the car rammed into her and sent her flying, with her entire body flipping upside down before she landed on her head and back.
In the background, a person was heard exclaiming ‘Aiyah!’ before following it up with a string of vulgarities.

Admitted to the hospital while conscious
Following the crash, the woman somehow managed to sit up and appeared to be reaching for her phone before she clutched her head with her hand.
A man in a white t-shirt and another man in a red t-shirt (believed to be the car driver) then ran towards her to check on her condition.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) later told MS News that they were alerted of the incident at 3.15am.
The police later revealed that the 26-year-old woman was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in a conscious state while a 67-year-old taxi driver is assisting them in their investigation.
