KUALA LUMPUR – A 35-year-old Inspector was found dead at a house in Jalan Selingsing on Sunday (Feb 27) after shooting himself with a pistol.
Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai said that the district police headquarters control centre had received a distress call at 3.30pm.
He added that investigations revealed the Inspector was attached to the Dang Wangi police headquarters and had a stellar record of rejecting bribes, earning him a letter of recommendation from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
“The deceased had previously worked as an Investigating Officer at the Sentul IPD Narcotic Crimes Unit for two years and later went to the Dang Wangi IPD three months prior to the incident.
“During his years of service, he turned down a RM10,000 bribe from the family of a detained suspect who was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 last August,” he told Harian Metro.
Ang added that the body was sent the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a postmortem and that police are looking into the cause of death.
The deceased is also survived by his wife and two children.
