An Indonesian teacher has drawn criticism online after making several claims about Malaysia while praising Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and his efforts to strengthen the country.
A clip of the male teacher speaking in front of what appeared to be a group of students was shared on Threads, where it caught the attention of Malaysian social media users.
Claimed Malaysia relied on Indonesia for rice

In the video, the teacher claimed Malaysia would turn to Indonesia whenever the country did not have enough rice.
He also alleged that Indonesia supplied Malaysia with its best rice at discounted prices.
When Malaysia has no rice, they asks Indonesia for help. We give them a cheap price too, even though it is our best rice,” he said.
However, no sources or evidence were provided in the clip to support the claim.
Claimed neighbouring countries were unhappy

The teacher also alleged that some neighbouring countries were upset because Indonesia had begun selling its resources directly instead of going through them.
“Why should we use someone else’s door when we have our own?” he said.
He then encouraged the students not to be influenced into speaking negatively about Indonesia, claiming that such remarks could later be turned into news reports that damaged the country’s reputation.
Remarks draw attention online
The Threads user who shared the clip questioned why Malaysia was brought into the discussion while the teacher was speaking about Prabowo and Indonesia’s development.
The OP suggested that the teacher could have praised the Indonesian president without making comparisons involving Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the claims made in the video about Malaysia’s rice supply and pricing were not supported by any evidence in the clip.
