An Indonesian national was detained after he descended into a tirade which saw him hurling threats and obscenities at airline staff and authorities on Monday (July 27).
According to Sin Chew Daily, the man is said to be a celebrity.
Upset over flight delay
In a statement by KLIA police chief Assistant Commissioner Ravi Munusamy, he said the 25-year-old suspect became upset when his scheduled 3pm flight back to Indonesia got delayed by five hours.
“The man then hurled abusive remarks, issued threats and provoked airline staff on duty. Security personnel who arrived at the scene to calm the situation brought the man to the Immigration Department office at Terminal 1.
“However, he became aggressive, behaved inappropriately and refused to comply with instructions given by Immigration Department officers on duty,” he said as quoted by NST.
Arrest
Following the ruckus, the suspect was arrested by police and brought to the Sepang Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was remanded for four days.
The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act for using insulting words, Section 188 of the Penal Code for defying an order issued by a civil servant, and Section 294 of the Penal Code for committing obscene acts in public.
Offenders face a fine of up to RM100 under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, while hile Section 188 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment of up to one month or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
As for Section 294 of the Penal Code, it provides a maximum jail term of three months, a fine, or both.
