Indonesian Maid Claims She Was Beaten And Starved, Police Say She Ran Away After Stealing From Employers

A cooked-up story.
Ever heard of the phrase ‘Looks are deceiving’? If you’ve said yes, you would have probably thought of some people who are masterful in crafting a lie with their looks and sometimes, tears.

This was certainly the case with an Indonesian maid, who took a kindhearted man in Johor for a ride by concocting a story of how she was allegedly abused by her employers.

According to the maid, she wasn’t given any food for the past two days and was constantly verbally abused.

I’ve suffered two days without any food, and even when I tried to rest, my employers accused me of being lazy.

Moved with sympathy, the man offered to buy her some food and have a meal together. During the meal, the maid wolfed down her food and two bottles of water in mere minutes.

After their meal, the man even went as far as to lodge a police report and took the maid to the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru so that she could be given some form of protection from the abuse she allegedly suffered.

Police: Maid stole and ran away from employers

In a twist that no one saw coming, it turned out that the maid’s sob story may not be real after all.

In a statement issued by Johor police on Wednesday (July 19), they said the maid’s employer lodged a report, claiming that the maid had stolen jewellery and cash amounting to more than RM10,000.

According to the report, the maid had fled from her employer’s residence in Taman Pelangi on July 17 at 11.21am by climbing over the gate, where she was last seen wearing a black, striped shirt and red pants.

The case is now being investigated under Section 381 of the Penal Code, where it carries a maximum jail sentence of up to 7 years if convicted. Police are also urging those with further information to step forward and aid them in tracking the maid down.
