I Spent RM1,000 For A Night’s Stay At A 4-Star Hotel In KL. And It Was Worth Every Penny

It was inclusive of a buffet, stay and lunch.
Taking a plunge into luxury at a top-notch 4-star hotel called VE Hotel, I went all in with a RM1,000 budget for a single day of lavish living. But here’s the real question: was the experience worth the cost?

Short answer: Yes. Yes it was.

Upon checking in at 2pm, I began my day by unpacking and then decided to have lunch at Veranda Bar & Lounge.

After scouring through the menu, I eventually settled for the Classic Veranda Sampler Platter, which consisted of satay, prawn cutlets, chicken drumettes, and toasted bread paired with traditional chicken curry.

Hits and misses on the platter

I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken drumettes and satay, but I must admit that the prawn cutlets didn’t quite hit the mark for me. A slight shame since the platter came a price tag of RM70.

That aside, was it worth the money? Yes. But could it have been better? Absolutely.

With a sumptuous spread set before me, I couldn’t pass up on the chance to try VE Hotel’s house wines. It was outstanding and a perfect fit for my palate as there was an extensive wine selection to select from.

Given my preference for white wine over red wine, I went with that option and was charged approximately RM130 for it. Like the platter, it was unquestionably worth every penny.

After finishing my lunch, I decided to explore the hotel and was pleasantly surprised to discover that their sauna and gym facilities were open 24/7, which was great news for fitness enthusiasts like me.

After my swim, I headed straight to bed in the suite I had booked for the night. The room was remarkably spacious and had two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a lovely living room.

Highlight of my stay

The best part of my stay had to be the stunning view from the floor where my room was located. Not only did it help me unwind, but it made the whole experience so much better. Plus, watching the sunrise and sunset from straight from the window was absolutely amazing.

What I found myself missing the most was those early morning wake-ups with the sun rising and having a breakfast served right in bed, which would have been nothing short of perfection.

I couldn’t help but imagine how it would have been a delightful start during my stay. Now, that’s something you wouldn’t want to miss.

A feast for the tastebuds

The next morning, I headed over to The Straits Estate, where I was looking forward to digging into breakfast buffet waiting for me.

The spread was nothing short of impressive, offering a diverse array of culinary delights to suit every palate.

Whether you were in the mood for freshly baked bread, cereals, a hearty Indian breakfasts, savory Chinese delights, or a classic Malay spread, it has it all.

To be very honest, if you want to try something new, I would definitely recommend the different types of pastries they offer rather than the Indian and Chinese-styled breakfast as it doesn’t fill your stomach as quickly and gives you more ‘storage space’ to try more dishes.

Furthermore, I must say that the cheese platter was the highlight of the breakfast experience for me. The beautifully presented assortment of cheeses, complemented by an array of fresh and succulent berries, was a true culinary masterpiece.

The breakfast buffet was RM55 per person and I paid around RM165 for me and my parents. For the culinary experience that was provided by the breakfast buffet, it’s a price I don’t mind paying.

The only thing I was a bit upset about was that the staff didn’t remove the dirty plates immediately once I was done with the meal.

But all in all, my stay at VE Hotel was definitely enjoyable and I don’t regret paying RM1,000 for it. Would I come again? Certainly!
