A 39-year-old Thai man tragically died after being bitten by a cobra in Samut Prakan, Thailand — but not before making one final phone call to his grandmother to tell her he loved her.
According to The Thaiger, the victim, identified as Mai, was found dead on the second floor of his home in central Thailand’s Samut Prakan province yesterday (Oct 23).
Made final call to grandma
Officers from Bang Sao Thong Police Station, forensic doctors, and rescuers from the Por Teck Tung Rescue Foundation responded to a report of a snake attack.

When they arrived, they found bite marks on Mai’s left wrist, and forensic officials estimated that he had already been dead for at least two hours.
Before losing consciousness, Mai had called his 74-year-old grandmother, Lek, at around 6.40am.
Lek recalled her grandson’s final words:
He asked me, ‘Grandma, do you love me?’ I told him I loved him very much. Then he said a snake had bitten him, and asked me to take care of everything if he didn’t survive.”
Lek said Mai’s voice soon became slurred before the call abruptly went silent. Realising something was wrong, she immediately phoned her granddaughter and told her to rush over to check on him.
Could not be saved
When medical and rescue teams arrived, Mai had already stopped breathing. They performed CPR, but failed to resuscitate him.
His body was later sent to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for a full autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
The cobra found at the scene was secured in a zip-lock bag and handed over to Bangkok’s Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute. The snake will reportedly be de-venomed, vaccinated, and released back into the wild.
