Kuala Lumpur has long been the destination of choice for foreigners to come for work or travel thanks to its vibrant environment and myriad of activities for them to take part in.
A YouTuber from Hong Kong named Mario Hau, who has lived in KL for the past two months, recently shared his thoughts about his stay in a 17-minute video yesterday, where he listed down some things that he wasn’t used to.
HK YouTuber: ‘KL’s traffic is really bad’
In the clip, Hau said that the one thing that bothered him the most during his stay was the traffic in KL, where it was heavily congested most of the time.
It’s so congested to the point where it’s near unimaginable, especially when you try to call for a Grab in the city centre. Most of the time, it takes up to 30 minutes just to get one.
“The locals also tell me that they often drive and don’t take public transport due to infrequent train and bus schedules,” he said.
Not used to local food and language
While Hau praised the affordability and wide variety of food in KL as a whole, he commented that Malaysian food, especially from mamak stalls, are quite salty and strong-flavoured.
Hau also said that he had difficulty understanding the various languages and dialects that were mashed into a single sentence, joking that his brain couldn’t keep up with it.
“Thankfully, I finally managed to understand after spending 1-2 weeks in KL. Another thing I like about KL is the fact that nobody will judge you for your accent.”
He also mentioned that not being used to certain things in KL doesn’t mean that it’s bad, adding that he merely wanted to share his experience with viewers.
