A Hong Kong foodie influencer is facing backlash after allegedly asking multiple wedding vendors for free services and paid collaborations for her upcoming wedding.
According to Feminine, the female influencer, who has around 70,000 followers across Instagram, Threads, and Xiaohongshu, sent direct messages to photographers, bridal boutiques, and makeup artists not only asking for sponsorships, but also attaching a detailed rate card for promotional posts on her platforms.

Wedding turned into a business pitch
Instead of the usual wedding preparations, the influencer’s outreach reportedly outlined specific charges for social media exposure, including feed posts and Instagram Stories, effectively turning her wedding into a commercial opportunity.
The move did not sit well with many in the wedding industry, with some vendors questioning whether it was a celebration or a business pitch.
As the controversy gained traction, more business owners began sharing their own alleged experiences.

A restaurant operator claimed the influencer had previously visited for food tastings, ordered high-priced items, and later requested for the bill to be waived.
Her food reviews were also criticised for lacking depth, with some accusing her of leveraging her platform mainly for free meals.
Backlash over influencer entitlement
Online reactions have been largely negative, with netizens calling out what they see as an inflated sense of influence.
Some questioned whether a following of 70,000 justified such demands, while others criticised the idea of seeking sponsorships for a wedding beyond one’s means.
While collaborations between influencers and brands are not uncommon, industry players pointed out that such partnerships are typically built on mutual respect and clear value exchange.
Wedding services, including photography, makeup, and attire, involve significant labour and expertise, making expectations of free services contentious.
