A local influencer has come under heavy fire from netizens after several photos showed her allegedly disrespecting the sanctity of a famous Buddhist temple and striking a pose of her making prayers.
Following the massive backlash, she has since gone off the grid to escape the online heat.
Wore suggestive outfit & posed with unlit incense sticks
According to Mirror Media, the influencer named Junee travelled to Hunan, China, and paid a visit to the White Horse Temple, which is long regarded as China’s first and oldest Buddhist temple.
Despite it being common knowledge that one has to dress modestly at places of worship, Junee decided to go on an entirely different route with her outfit.
In one of the photos, she’s seen leaving her jacket unzipped, leaving her breasts exposed in broad daylight.
Another photo showed her closing her eyes in prayer while holding onto three incense sticks. However, sharp-eyed netizens later pointed out that none of it was lit at all.
Widespread criticism
Needless to say, Junee’s actions didn’t win her favour from netizens, who condemned her for not respecting the Buddhist temple with her scanty outfit.
She was also accused of faking piety with the unlit incense sticks, with one sarcastically commenting that she was just holding “three large Pocky sticks”.
Following the wave of backlash, Junee reportedly deactivated her Instagram and Threads account.
