If you’re a frequent driver on the highway, you’d notice that there would be a height barrier being erected at every toll booth to ensure that vehicles do not exceed the limit and prevent accidents from happening.
While most are aware of the height barrier and would abide by it, there are some who may let it slip their mind and end up getting themselves into big trouble, just like this Hilux driver in an Instagram clip.
Hilux carrying metal poles breaks height barrier into half
In the clip shared by a profile named @viralq, it showed a driver slowly passing through a toll booth at an undisclosed location.
While doing so, he expressed astonishment and amusement upon seeing the height barrier at a radio frequency identification (RFID) toll booth being broken into half by a Hilux which was carrying several metal poles.
As the clip continued to roll, two staff members could be seen confronting the Hilux driver for damaging the height barrier.
Although their conversation couldn’t be heard clearly, it is believed that the Hilux driver told the staff that he had totally forgotten he was transporting the metal poles at the back of his car.
Unsurprisingly, his explanation didn’t sit well with the female staff, who could be heard yelling, “How can you not see the height barrier?!”
Aside from the height barrier, the front bumper of the Hilux was also completely torn off but it’s not clear whether was it damaged due to the incident.
‘Make him pay!’
The clip has since triggered tons of netizens, who were baffled and infuriated by how the Hilux driver could simply forget about the metal poles, with some even going as far as calling him “stupid”.
Some blamed weak enforcement on the part of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in allowing vehicles to transport items recklessly.
Others also called upon the toll booth operator to seek compensation from the Hilux driver for breaking the height barrier and not let him get away with it.

Let’s hope the Hilux driver learns his lesson and not disregard the height limit next time!
