Wondering what the ‘one off’ RM100 SARA is all about? Especially after the Prime Minister’s latest announcement?
Well, you’re not alone.
Following the announcement of SARA for All, many Malaysians were left curious when YAB Prime Minister declared that every Malaysian aged 18 and above will receive a one-off RM100 SARA on 31 August 2025.
Here’s everything you need to know about this government benefit — explained simply.
What is SARA?
SARA is a cash aid programme that gives financial support in the form of credit linked to your MyKad. This credit can be used to purchase essential household items at selected stores nationwide.
No apps. No vouchers. Just tap your MyKad and shop.
The SARA credit is accepted at over 4,100 participating outlets across Malaysia. These include big-name supermarkets like Giant, Mydin, HeroMarket, and even your local kedai runcit Pak Mat.
Basically, if the store is part of the SARA programme, you’re good to go.

How to use it?
Using the SARA benefit is easy and cashless. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to spend your RM100 aid using your MyKad:
- Pick Essentials
Choose items with the SARA/MyKasih label from 14 approved categories. - Show MyKad
Cashier will verify your eligibility using your MyKad. - Set Your PIN
Change your temporary PIN (first 6 digits of MyKad) to a new 6-digit PIN. - Scan Items
Only eligible items will be deducted from your SARA credit. - Pay with MyKad
Enter your PIN to complete the cashless transaction. - Keep the Receipt
For record and balance tracking.

SARA credit can be used any time until 31 December 2025, and unused monthly balances will roll over into the following months.
What can you buy?
You can purchase items from 14 approved product categories, which include over 90,000 essential items.
Examples:
- Rice
- Eggs
- Bread
- Cooking oil
- Diapers
- Painkillers (like Panadol)
- Soap & toiletries
- Stationery
This means you’re not limited to just groceries — you can get daily necessities too.

Best part? It’s cashless
Just show your MyKad at the counter and the SARA credit will be automatically applied to eligible purchases. It’s completely cashless, and even better — your balance won’t expire until 31 December 2025.
So no rush. Spend it wisely and at your own pace.
Each eligible Malaysian aged 18 and above gets RM100. So if your household has four adults, that’s RM400 total — not bad for a one-off aid.
Still, it’s up to you to budget it wisely.
