Following the conclusion of the Negeri Sembilan and Johor state elections, Melaka is gearing itself up for another round of elections which is expected to take place soon.

In light of this, PAS held a charity dinner to raise funds for the party’s election machinery, with one particular item being auctioned off for thousands of Ringgit.

Walking stick fetches RM16,500

According to a report by The Vibes, a walking stick which was used by PAS President, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, was successfully auctioned off for RM16,500 at the Melaka PAS Charity Dinner at a hotel in Ayer Keroh yesterday (Aug 23).

The cane, made of yellow wood and bore the initials ‘TGHH’, had a starting bid of RM2,500 before it climbed to RM4,000 and finally reached RM16,500.

It was eventually awarded to PAS Lembah Pantai Committee Member Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin after he successfully bided for the stick.

Who is the bidder?

Muhamad Muqharabbin made history in 2004 by reaching the summit of Mount Everest on May 16 while leading the Malaysian team, a feat which was memoralised in Nepal’s climbing records.

Aside from being a climber, Muhamad Muqharabbin is also a politician, serving as Lembah Pantai Division UMNO Youth Chief and Malaysia UMNO Youth Exco before joining Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in 2023.
