The Myvi, often hailed as the “king” of the road for its durability and impressive performance, has gained fans not only in Malaysia but also among automotive enthusiasts abroad.
Recently, a Thread video went viral showing the surprising moment when a Myvi owner from overseas tried to restart his car, which had been left unused for nearly four to five years.
King Myvi still ready to run
In the video, the owner wanted to capture the moment he brought his Myvi back to life, as it had been sitting idle at his home for years and was initially set to be scrapped.
With the help of a battery charge, the Myvi started up smoothly, with the engine roaring to life as the mechanic revved it up.
The owner expressed his shock and amazement that the Myvi could still run perfectly after being neglected for so long. He admitted he had underestimated the car’s reliability.
Still has market value
“I didn’t expect it to still function so well. I regret even thinking about scrapping it,” he said, visibly emotional.
The owner went on to suggest that the mechanic sell the Myvi, as it still held value.
He noted that the car had been listed for as much as $2,000 (~RM8,417.64) in the past, showing that even after years of disuse, the Myvi remains a valuable asset.
Netizens’ reaction
Netizens were amused by the car’s surprisingly good condition despite being idle for years, with many commenting on how rare it is for a vehicle to stay so clean after such a long period without use.
The pristine state of the Myvi sparked curiosity and light-hearted comments about its resilience and durability.
“The paint looks great, is it true that it hasn’t moved for 4 years? Usually, cars that haven’t started in years are covered in dust, moss, and grime.”
“Fully electronic cars vs cars with less/no electronics… just like in the US, a new FI Mustang vs an old Carb… when parked for a long time, the one with fewer electronic items/technology is easier to start…”
