In a statement by Seberang Prai Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Abd Rahman, he said police found the victim’s body with the seatbelt wrapped around his neck and body.
He also said preliminary investigations found no criminal elements in the case, adding that the victim’s cause of death is believed to be due to emotional stress.
“According to the 19-year-old’s employer and colleagues, he had just started working at the car wash three days ago, and had come all the way to Penang from Kuala Lumpur.
“The deceased is also believed to have issues with his wife back home as his friends said they heard him fighting with her over the phone, which caused him to be stressed,” he said.
Anuar said the case was classified as sudden death (SDR) and that the post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was due to strangulation around the neck.
