“Upon entry, the rescue team found the lifeless body of the elderly man surrounded by recyclable materials just in front of the main entrance,” Sha’ari shared according to Harian Metro.

He added that the body was subsequently transported to Penang Hospital for autopsy.

The initial report came from nearby residents who noticed a pungent smell believed to be emanating from the said house.

“The surroundings suggest that the man was a collector of recycled and used items, which he kept inside his home. He lived alone, and the state of decay and fluids from the body indicate he may have died four days ago,” explained Sha’ari.

Sha’ari confirmed that the case has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
