Dr. Noor Hisham Takes On New Role As Chancellor of University of Cyberjaya

The esteemed former health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, has embarked on a fresh chapter in his distinguished career by taking up the role of Chancellor at the University of Cyberjaya (UoC).

His appointment, which came into effect on October 1, succeeds Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anwar Ali who held the position since 2019.

UoC expressed its profound delight in welcoming Dr Noor Hisham, acknowledging his outstanding contributions in the realms of health, medicine, and health management.

Reflecting on its foundation and initial offerings of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Pharmacy 18 years ago, the institution perceives Dr Noor Hisham’s involvement as an alignment with its long-standing heritage in healthcare and medicine.

In its statement, the university expressed, “His vision aligns perfectly with our mission to provide equitable access to quality medical education and contribute to global healthcare. We are confident that his leadership will propel UoC to new heights.”

Expressing gratitude for the new role, Dr Noor Hisham highlighted his alignment with UoC’s vision and mission.

“With great humility and gratitude, I accept the invitation and position of Chancellor University of Cyberjaya for three years effective from 1st October 2023.,” he commented.

Retires from his position as health DG in April this year

After a commendable tenure spanning 35 years in public service, Dr Noor Hisham retired from his position as the health director-general in April this year.

His dedication to global health remains unwavering, as evidenced by his current role as the Chair of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Standing Committee of Health Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (SCHEPPR) in Geneva.

Recently, he also made a comeback as a surgeon at Putrajaya Hospital.
