Two male cosplayers who were dressed in tactical gear were arrested by police for possessing fake weapons during the Let’s Anime Cosplay event at a shopping centre at Damansara Jaya on Saturday (Sept 17).

The men, who are locals aged 15 and 24, were nabbed at 4.30pm after police received a report.

Ku Mashariman said they were remanded for three days since yesterday to assist investigations under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960.

“We advise the public not to buy or possess fake weapons on purpose as it is against the law.”

‘How is this dangerous?’

In the comment section, some netizens were puzzled over how such weapons warranted police action as they were merely toys.

However, others were quick to point out that only guns with an orange muzzle were allowed to be sold as some may mistake them as real weapons.
