A Threads post about “workplace karma” has gone viral after a Malaysian woman shared how a company allegedly terminated her friend’s contract after 15 years of service, only for the replacement to back out shortly after.
In a post, the netizen claimed that her friend’s company ended the friend’s contract because they said they had already found a replacement.
However, things apparently did not go as planned.
New hire allegedly pulled out
According to the post, the company’s chosen replacement later withdrew from the role after accepting another job offer.
Following that, the company allegedly went back to the former staff member and offered the same position again.

However, the friend rejected the offer, leading the OP to comment that “karma is real.”
Netizens share similar experiences
The post quickly drew responses from netizens, many of whom shared their own experiences of being replaced or undervalued at work.
One user claimed he had gone through a similar situation, saying his company had let him go and hired a cheaper new staff member.
According to him, the new employee later called him to ask how to do certain work-related tasks, only for him to realise that the company had allegedly asked the person to contact him.
“Sorry, go figure it out yourself lah” he wrote.

Another commenter advised not to entertain such requests unless the payment was high.
The viral post has struck a chord with many Malaysians who feel that long-time employees are sometimes taken for granted.
