China’s official account for its badminton team (中国羽毛球队) recently celebrated He Jiting-Zhou Haodong’s victory over Japan’s Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi in the Sudirman Cup finals on Weibo.
The duo triumphed over their opponents with a 21-17, 14-21, 21-16 score to secure the first win.
And the post reads: “Men’s doubles: @He Jiting/Zhou Haodong 2-1 Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. You guys are great! You can do it!”
The post has since received over 4,200 likes and 700 comments at the time of writing.
However, eagle-eyed netizens discovered one glaring mistake – the account had accidentally used Malaysian badminton player Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik’s picture in the congratulatory post.
When netizens pointed it out, the account’s admin admitted the mistake but added that they couldn’t change the post as it was labelled ‘Trending’ on Weibo.
The solution? Just act like you didn’t see it.
The post has not yet been deleted nor changed at the time of writing.
While some said that it was cute of the official account to use the wrong photo, others thought it was disrespectful to the Chinese players.
One also asked the admin to delete the post as it was an “obvious mistake”.
