SINGAPORE – Are you a durian lover and currently looking for a job over the causeway? Well, you’re in luck because a durian store in Singapore is calling for “noobs” to join their team!
The store, named “99 Old Trees Durian”, posted a recruitment ad on their Facebook page which announced that the monthly salary is up to SGD3,500 (RM10.8K).
“Zero Experience Required!”
The store stated that the position involves only “sweat and blood” and that no prior experience is required.
You can expect to learn basic durian recognition, knife handling skills, and detecting damage to the fruit.
“Join the brotherhood, and you might just fall in love with it.”
However, the job is only available during the durian season from June to August. The store will also give a sign-up bonus of SGD500 (RM1,550) to candidates.
The hourly rate for the job is SGD 11 (RM34) and it will increase as the candidate “levels up”.
They also posted a series of recruitment ads accompanied by funny quotes to attract attention.
One shows a man lying on baskets full of the thorny fruit, which reads: “Understand pain, deliver pleasure”.
Another one reads: “Cannot let those biceps lao hong (deflate)!”
The store is located at 46, Owen Road, and its source of durians are from Raub, Pahang.
