China Woman Stages Her ‘Funeral’ As A Way To Say Goodbye To 3-Year Relationship With BF

Guess she's really dead to him now.
Breaking up with your partner after years into the relationship is never something easy, and many have different coping mechanisms to get over it such as binge eating or crying to melancholic tunes.

A woman in China turned to a rather unusual way of holding her own funeral, albeit a symbolic one, to bid farewell to her failed relationship with her boyfriend.

China woman stages her ‘funeral’ to bid 3-year relationship goodbye

According to South China Morning Post (SCMP), the woman involved was 25-year-old Wang, who came from the Sichuan province and had a boyfriend for three years.

In April of this year however, their relationship came to an end after her boyfriend’s parents strongly objected to their marriage.

Tired of being asked constantly at wedding parties when she was getting hitched and wanting to move on from her boyfriend, Wang held her own ‘funeral’ on Oct 28 and invited her friends to “bid her farewell”.

Wang’s ‘funeral’ was held at a florist in Chengdu, where the owner gladly allowed her to hold the event without paying a single cent.

In the video which has been circulating on Weibo, it showed Wang lying down on her ‘deathbed’ while surrounded by candles.

As for her friends in attendance, they followed the traditional funeral rites such as bowing down and placing white flowers by Wang’s deathbed.

After the ‘funeral’ was over, Wang figuratively “rose from the dead” and began talking to her friends about life and death.

Despite the odd ceremony, Wang said it had greatly helped her cope with the pain of breaking up with her boyfriend.
