A horrifying murder took place at a Chinese restaurant in a shopping mall opposite the Kajang Police Headquarters yesterday (29 Nov) afternoon.
The victim, a 49-year-old Chinese restaurant manager, was attacked in plain sight around 4 PM. Witnesses say she was stabbed in the abdomen four to five times with a sharp weapon, causing chaos as bystanders fled the scene in panic.
Some managed to call for emergency services, and the woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries due to the severity of the wounds.
Kajang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil confirmed that seven of the victim’s colleagues have been detained to assist with investigations into the motive behind the crime.
Authorities are also actively seeking witnesses to reconstruct the events leading to this shocking incident.
Eyewitness reports suggest the perpetrator fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police are now working tirelessly to track down the suspect and bring justice to the victim.
Known to be friendly
A nearby restaurant operator told Oriental Daily that he and some colleagues were chatting near the crime scene before the murder was discovered.
We didn’t hear any fighting or shouting. It wasn’t until staff from the restaurant came running to inform us that we realized something terrible had happened,” he said.
When he entered the restaurant to check, he found the victim unconscious with visible knife wounds on her arm. Police arrived shortly after, cordoned off the area, and began their investigation.
The operator shared that the victim, a Chinese national married to a Malaysian man, had lived in Malaysia for years.
Known for her warm and friendly demeanour, she often shared laughs with customers and had been managing the restaurant for about two years.
According to restaurant staff, they were on the mezzanine level at the time of the attack, leaving no one to witness the incident or identify the assailant.
The restaurant’s doors were reportedly tightly shut, with police tape sealing off the back entrance, and the tables were still laden with uncollected dishes from diners who had left before the incident occurred.
