China Woman Spends Extra RM1K On Ticket After She Flew To Kota Bahru Instead Of Kota Kinabalu

Big yikes.
When buying plane tickets for a trip, one of the most important things to look out for is ensuring that you’re heading towards the correct destination. But sometimes, a slight overlook can result in unwanted hassle and extra fees.

A tourist from China had the unfortunate experience of flying to the wrong destination after she failed to check the details, thus forcing her to fork out extra money for her mistake.

Flew to Kota Bahru instead of Kota Kinabalu

Taking to Xiaohongshu to share the encounter, the woman named Rita wrote that she had planned to travel to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from KL via plane on Friday (Oct 27).

In the midst of doing so however, she didn’t pay close attention to the ticket details and booked a flight to Kota Bahru, Kelantan instead. Oopsie!

Forced to pay RM1,000 for new plane ticket

Upon touching down at the airport, Rita sensed that something was wrong as she noticed that it looked nothing like what she envisioned the airport in Kota Kinabalu to be.

At that point, it finally dawned on her that she had landed at the wrong destination.

Rita later told Sin Chew Daily that she had been to Kota Kinabalu before and wanted to revisit the place again with her friends. But she never thought she would find herself at Kota Bahru.

“As there were no domestic flights from Kelantan to Sabah, we had to buy a new ticket to return to Kuala Lumpur before flying to Sabah from there, costing us an additional RM1,000,” she said.

Rita also urged others to pay more attention when buying their tickets so that they won’t repeat the same mistake, adding that she has learnt her lesson albeit at the cost of her pockets.
