CHERY Brand Officially Enters Malaysia, Launches 2 Flagship Models

CHERY Malaysia officially made its mark in Malaysia with a grand launch event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

This event marked the official entry of CHERY brand into Malaysia. YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Malaysia, was invited as the guest of honour for the official launch alongside other guests.

“The ASEAN EV market is forecasted to grow at almost 33% per annum to US$2.7 billion by 2027. Mass electrification from the automotive sector fits in well with our national ESG and net zero agenda from the manufacturing industry’s perspective.

To that end, the introduction of Chery’s new electric vehicles (EVs) models will support Malaysia’s efforts to decarbonise our economy and will contribute to the growth of the EV market in Malaysia.

We are also proud that Chery has chosen Malaysia as the Regional Hub for Right-Hand Drive (RHD) Vehicles for their Southeast Asian and Oceania markets. MITI and its agencies further welcome Chery’s commitment to invest an initial capital of RM170 million for their expansion here, which will provide 4,000 high-paying, high-skilled jobs for Malaysians in the next 5 years,” he said during the event.

Mr. Shawn Xu, Chery International Vice President and President of Chery Malaysia, delivered an important speech at the event, congratulating Chery on embarking on a new chapter in the Malaysian market.

He also mentioned: “Chery strongly believe that the prospects of the Malaysian automotive market are highly potential. Chery is committed in growing together with the automotive industry in Malaysia.”

OMODA 5, is Chery’s first global car, developed based on market research from thousands of surveys conducted in numerous countries worldwide. Achieve 68% growth overseas

As the first Chinese automobile company to export complete vehicles, CKD kits, engines, and manufacturing technologies and equipment abroad, Chery has been steadfast in implementing its international market strategy for over 20 years.

Currently, Chery has established five major global R&D centres, with a research and development team of over 7,000 people, including technical experts who have previously served well-known automotive companies.

Additionally, Chery has built 10 major factories and 1,500 overseas service outlets worldwide. Its global sales have exceeded 11.3 million vehicles, with over 2.4 million overseas customers.

Particularly in markets like Chile and Brazil, Chery’s various models have maintained leading positions in their respective segments, while in the Middle East and Mexico, it has become one of the fastest growing.

In 2022, Chery achieved a remarkable growth of 68% in overseas markets compared to the previous year, with annual sales surpassing 450,000 vehicles. This not only set a historic record but also marked Chery’s 20th consecutive year as the top Chinese brand in passenger car exports.

In 2023, Chery said that it will continue to accelerate its internationalization process, with OMODA 5 alone set to expand its presence in over 30 countries.

The company plans to launch models such as the OMODA 5 EV and TIGGO 7 PRO in 2024, catering to the diverse needs of the local population and driving the Malaysian automotive market into a new phase of development.

To further delight customers, Chery Malaysia announced the price of the OMODA 5 (C) at RM108,800.00 and OMODA 5 (H) at RM118,800.00 This competitive price reflects our commitment to making excellence attainable, offering our customers an exceptional vehicle that combines style, performance, and value.

Additionally, Tiggo 8Pro will be available at the price of RM159,800. This exceptional value allows our customers to indulge in the luxury, sophistication, and advanced features of this remarkable SUV.

Chery offers a comprehensive warranty policy for Malaysian users, including a 7- year/150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and a 10-year/million-kilometer engine warranty for the first 3,000 customers.
