While it’s a universal fact that using the phone while driving is a dangerous act, there are some who still choose to flout the law openly.
A bus driver who was recently filmed using his phone while driving the bus has been criticised by netizens for his act and is now under police radar.

Bus driver uses phone while driving from Penang to Ipoh
In a 21-second clip posted by a netizen named Irwan Fahmi Ideris on Twitter on Friday (Mar 31), it showed the bus driver scrolling his phone with both hands.
While he occasionally looked up to see whether there were any cars ahead, his hands were still firmly on his phone and he rested his arms against the steering wheel to “drive” the bus.

According to the tweet’s caption, the bus company’s name was KPB and that the bus was travelling from Penang to Ipoh.
Irwan also tagged Transport Minister Anthony Loke and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to take appropriate action against the driver.

‘So dangerous!’
The tweet has since been viewed 1 million times at the time of writing, with netizens roundly condemning the bus driver for endangering passengers and other motorists with his act.
“Such drivers need to be fired immediately and punished severely. They’re willing to risk the lives of passengers and road users just to look at their phones.”

“Doesn’t even look like he’s wearing a seatbelt.”

One joked that the driver did what he did as the bus had an ‘autopilot’ feature. P.S. Gatita Yan would like to have to a word with you…

Police searching for bus driver
The incident has since caught the attention of police, who are calling upon the driver to turn himself in to the police station to aid investigations, reported Sinar Harian.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Mat Kasim Karim said the video was recorded by one of the passengers on the bus.

“The bus driver’s actions not only exposes passengers to the risk of road accidents, but other motorists as well.
“Those with further information can reach JSPT via Facebook Messenger or drop an email to [email protected],” he said.
Just this week, local DJ Gatita Yan and her boyfriend made headlines for driving their BMW on autopilot mode:
