Baby Boy’s Body Found Inside Toilet Cistern At T’gganu Mosque

The baby was found to have died for over 24 hours.
Baby dumping is a serious issue in Malaysia, where newly born babies are abandoned by their parents and left to either die or be rescued by passersby.

A baby boy sadly didn’t survive after being abandoned and was later found hidden inside the toilet cistern of the women’s toilet at a mosque in Terengganu.

According to Berita Harian, the incident occurred at the Kampung Pasir Simpul Mosque yesterday (Apr 16).

Kampung Pasir Simpul Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) chairman Muhammad Mustaffa said a cleaner in his 40s was washing the toilet at 7pm.

After cleaning the toilet, he flushed the toilet cistern and blood-like liquid came out with a very foul smell.

“Thinking that the toilet cistern was clogged, the cleaner began digging it out and saw a hand sticking out, where it belonged to a baby boy whose body was in the process of decomposition,” he said.

Deeply shocked by the horrifying discovery, the cleaner immediately contacted Mustaffa and the mosque’s manager before alerting the police.

Hulu Terengganu district police chief Deputy Supt Zainul Mujahidin Mat Yudin later confirmed the incident when contacted and said the autopsy revealed the baby had died for more than 24 hours before being found.

He added police are currently tracking down the suspect and the case is now being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by disposing a dead body.

It carries a jail term of up to two years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
