An e-hailing driver in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan was left shocked after he witnessed a passenger lashing out at his wife in a violent manner due to a fare dispute.
The entire incident was captured by the driver’s dashcam, which was later shared to his personal Facebook account.
Had no change for RM50 payment
In the caption, the driver wrote that he picked up the passenger, his wife and child. When they reached their destination, he asked the passenger to pay RM7 for the ride.
When the passenger handed a RM50 note, the driver told him that he had no small change and asked whether he could pay using an e-wallet, but the passenger said he had not enough balance.
Seeing that there’s was no viable solution at the time, the driver wrote that he was considering letting the passenger ride for free.
He then reminded the passenger to have some small notes on him next time so that such situations wouldn’t occur again.
Blow-up
However, this angered the passenger, who yelled at the driver and said: “You think I don’t have money?”
The passenger also became increasingly belligerent, where he questioned why passengers should prepare small change and accused the driver of being rude to him.
When the driver tried to explain in a calm manner, this only seemed to anger the passenger more, causing his wife to try to defuse the tension.
However, it proved to be futile as the passenger directed his anger towards her and slapped her while calling her several vulgarities such as ‘babi’ (pig) and ‘bodoh’ (stupid).
This was the straw that broke the camel’s (or in this case, the driver’s) back as he couldn’t tolerate the passenger’s violent behaviour and immediately told him to get out.
He also claimed that even after getting ejected from the car, the passenger continued to berate and hit his wife.
Report lodged
The driver has since lodged a report with the e-hailing platform in hopes of bringing the incident to a close.
However, it turned out to be otherwise as the passenger later messaged him via the e-hailing platform to argue with him.
The driver chose to ignore the passenger and wrote that the latter’s more than welcome to lodge his own report if he desires.
