What are the chances of your car being an unwitting target of an arrow? Most would say that it’s one in a million.
For this one man in Penang, that one rare chance became a frightening reality after his car door got punctured by an arrow that flew from a school field.
Man shaken after arrow pierces right through car door
According to Sinar Harian, the man’s close brush with injury or death occurred last Wednesday (Aug 13) while driving along Jalan Macalister at around 3.30pm.
Penang Northeast district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the man was driving from Ayer Itam towards Jalan Pangkor when he noticed an arrow protruding from rear right door of his car.

He added the arrow is believed to have come from an archery training that was conducted at a nearby school field.
Thankfully, no one was injured by the arrow and a police report was later lodged.
Abdul Rozak said checks revealed the archery training organised by the Penang State Sports Council (MSN) was halted the following day after the harrowing incident.

The case is now being probed under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, which  carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
The public has also been urged not to make any speculations that could disrupt the police investigation.
