Another student has reportedly fallen from a building at the same Sabah school attended by the late Zara Qairina Mahathir.
According to the NST, the student fell from the first floor of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar on July 15 and was subsequently taken to hospital.
Student is in stable condition
In a statement dated July 17, the Sabah Education Department said it viewed the incident seriously and that the school had taken immediate action after being informed about what happened.
The school also provided initial assistance to the student before informing her family and the police.
The area where the incident occurred was also controlled to prevent panic among students and members of the school community.

According to the department, the student underwent examinations and received treatment at a hospital.
Based on the medical report, the victim did not suffer serious injuries and is currently in stable condition,” it said.
No criminal or bullying elements found so far
The department added that the student’s safety, welfare and emotional wellbeing continued to be monitored.
Psychosocial and emotional support was also provided to the student and other members of the school community affected by the incident.
The Sabah Education Department said it would fully cooperate with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
However, the school’s preliminary investigation found no criminal or bullying elements linked to the incident.
The public was also advised not to circulate unverified information that could disrupt the investigation or affect the wellbeing of the student, her family and the school community.
Incident happened near anniversary of Zara’s death
The latest incident occurred at the same school attended by Zara, who was found unconscious near the school dormitory in July 2025 and died the following day.
An inquest into the circumstances surrounding Zara’s death remains ongoing.
While the two incidents occurred at the same school, authorities have not indicated that they are connected.
