You know the drill. You’re cruising along, minding your own business, when – BAM – someone decides they’re the main character and cuts you off without a hint of a signal.
Reckless drivers are the bane of Malaysian highways, and the latest viral incident from the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) has social media buzzing with frustration and fury.
Alphard swerves in front of M’sian driver out of the blue
In a now-viral TikTok video posted by @niezalrosli, a white Toyota Alphard pulled the classic “surprise lane change” right in front of a calm driver cruising in the leftmost lane.
With no signal, no warning, and apparently no patience, the Alphard swerved in just to take the exit toward Jalan Sultan Ismail, leaving the other driver fuming.
And can you blame him? “The road was completely empty, yet he just had to cut me off,” the frustrated driver wrote in the caption.
Honks were blaring, and tempers were flaring – and we totally get it. Who wouldn’t be mad when there’s all the space in the world, but someone still pulls this stunt?
“Where’s the common sense?” – Netizens clap back
Social media users didn’t hold back either. Many flooded the comments section, venting their own horror stories about similar encounters on Malaysian roads. One user summed it up perfectly:
“This happens all the time… They could’ve just slowed down and merged behind us if they knew they had to exit. But no, they had to cut in front.”
Another user chimed in with their own traumatic experience:
“I went through this recently, but the car didn’t signal and ended up scraping my driver’s seat. Traumatised, man—my hands were shaking.”
The incident has reignited discussions about driving etiquette (or the lack thereof) and left everyone wondering: Why can’t some drivers just chill? It’s 2024, people – signalling is free!
So, here’s a PSA: next time you’re on the road, do us all a favour – don’t be that driver.
