If you’ve been on Malaysian roads long enough, you’ve probably seen your fair share of drivers acting like they’re in an action movie—speeding, cutting lanes, and completely forgetting that signal lights exist.
It’s like some people think traffic rules are just suggestions. Spoiler alert: they’re not.
In a recent post that went viral on X posted by @update11111, one such daredevil made waves, or rather, swerves, in Johor Bahru.
Dashcam footage captured a Perodua Axia taking a dangerous detour, zipping from the far-left lane straight to the right, cutting across three cars and nearly causing a real-life bumper car situation.
Without so much as a blink from the signal lights, the Axia driver recklessly raced toward a flyover, leaving other drivers—and netizens—fuming.
Luckily, the quick reflexes of the dashcam driver prevented a pile-up, but the incident sparked online outrage.
According to Malaysian traffic laws, failing to signal before changing lanes is an offense.
If it leads to an accident causing serious injuries, the driver could face legal consequences under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
This includes fines ranging from RM4,000 to RM10,000 and a possible prison sentence of up to two years.
