Ah Long Splashes Wrong House With Paint In Ipoh, Tells Owners To Find Real Debtors For Compensation

Oopsie?
Loan sharks, also known as ah longs, are feared by the public not only for the frighteningly high interests rates they impose on borrowers, but also their ruthless tactics in getting back what is owed to them.

A family in Ipoh woke up to find their house being covered in red paint, only to discover that they were victims of mistaken identity over a loan that wasn’t theirs to begin with.

Ah Long splashes wrong house with paint in Ipoh

Speaking to mStar about the unfortunate incident, Wan Zainab Wan Mamat said she and her husband were out buying food when they were informed that their house was splashed with red paint by a group of men at around 2am yesterday (Nov 6).

In a photo provided to the online portal, the front porch, a motorcycle, and a car had streaks of red paint on it.

When Wan Zainab and her husband returned home, they found a note left behind by an Ah Long which demanded for a loan to be repaid along with the debtor’s address on it and a contact number.

But here’s the catch: while the address belonged to the couple, the real debtor was actually another person.

‘Go find them yourselves’

Wanting to find out how her home was wrongly targeted in the first place, Wan Zainab contacted the Ah Long for an explanation and was told that they acted based on the address given.

To further add insult to injury, the Ah Long also told her to find the real debtor for compensation when she asked the latter to pay for the damages caused.

When I asked him to pay for the damages, he refused and instead told me to seek compensation from the person who owed him S$3,000 (approx RM 9,900).

“He then gave me the debtor’s address which was a few kilometres away from my home. When we got there, we saw that it was also splashed with red paint,” she said.

A police report has since been lodged over the matter.

Living in fear

Needless to say, the encounter has left Wan Zainab and her family deeply shaken as they fear further retaliation from the Ah Longs.

Not only that, Wan Zainab also added that her family’s extremely ashamed by the fiasco as neighbours have begun to assume that they owed Ah Longs money.

“My whole family is living in fear and my husband didn’t sleep for the entire night as he was protecting the home from being attacked. I hope the debtor will take responsibility for this,” she said.
