While Malaysia is blessed with modern and state-of-the-art health facilities, there are some who have to travel hundreds of kilometres away from their home just to see the doctor.
Tragically, a 9-month-old baby lost his life during a grueling bus journey from Julau to Kuching.
Baby dies during 6-hour journey to Kuching
In a heartbreaking video posted on Facebook by Jessa Bandang on Monday (Dec 5), it showed a grieving mother caressing her lifeless baby in her arms while kissing his forehead.
It is understood that the mother had taken her child to a hospital in Kuching from their home in Julau by bus, which takes 6 hours to complete the journey.
Sadly, the baby passed away when the duo stopped by a rest stop in Jelukong.
Utusan Borneo reported that no hospitals are currently available in Julau and if residents are in need of medical attention, they have to travel to Sarikei to do so.

Outpouring of sympathy
The heartrending clip has since garnered 11,000 reactions and thousands of comments from netizens, who sent their condolences to the baby’s mother.
We send our deepest condolences to the mother and we hope that the authorities will build hospitals for the residents soon!
