75yo M’sian man dies after grass-cutting machine catches fire
According to Harian Metro, the victim’s identity remains unknown, except for the fact that he was a 75-year-old retiree who formerly worked for Telekom Malaysia (TM).
In a statement by Arau district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi, he said preliminary investigations suggest the victim is believed to have died after a grass-cutting machine caught fire and its flames spread to his body.

He added that the distance between the victim and the burning grass-cutting machine was only about two meters in front of his house located on Jalan Besar KM4 Jejawi.
The victim was found dead by a Kangar Municipal Council (MP Kangar) enforcement assistant, who initially thought he had stumbled upon a mannequin but later called the police when he realised it was a corpse.
“The scene also showed no signs of criminal activity, nor were there any signs of struggle on the victim’s body,” he said.
Last seen 2 days ago
Ahmad Mohsin said based on a police interview with the victim’s wife, she confirmed that she hadn’t seen him for the past two days until his body was discovered.

He also said the victim’s brother revealed that the last time he saw the victim was when he delivered food to his brother and sister-in-law last Friday (Sept 6).
“His brother also mentioned that he had previously seen the victim cutting grass alone at his residence.
“The victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Unit at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital Kangar and will be sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and formally identify the victim.
“Police have classified the case as sudden death (SDR),” he said.
