Kuala Lumpur and six other districts in the Selangor region will experience water cuts for 3 days due to maintenance work, Air Selangor confirmed.
The water-cut areas include Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Ulu Selangor, Klang, Kuala Selangor, Petaling Jaya, and Shah Alam, from June 5 to June 7.
According to Air Selangor, the water cut is due to maintenance work at the Phase 1 filtration station of the Selangor River.
Expected full restoration by noon, June 7
The maintenance project is scheduled to commence at 9 AM on June 5 and is expected to be completed by 7 PM the same evening, according to a statement released on Air Selangor’s Facebook page.
Water supply is anticipated to be progressively restored beginning at 3 AM on June 6. By the afternoon of June 6, about 20% of the affected regions are expected to have their water supply reinstated, reaching 90% by 3 AM on June 7, with full normalization expected by noon.
The timeline for water restoration will vary based on location, depending on the proximity of residences and the status of the water pressure systems.
Distribute water via tanker trucks
During the disruption period, Air Selangor will prioritize the distribution of water via tanker trucks to critical facilities such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers, and funeral homes.
Residents of the affected districts are advised to store sufficient water and to use water sparingly during the outage period.
