6yo M’sian Girl Suddenly Dies While Her Father Went Out To Buy Food

Police believe physical abuse might be the cause of death.
Children often require adult supervision as untoward and unfortunate things may happen to them if not watched closely.

A young girl tragically lost her life all of a sudden while her father went out to buy food, who returned to find her lifeless three hours later.

According to Berita Harian, the incident took place at a flat located at Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras on Sunday (Dec 3).

In a statement by Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin, he said initial investigations found that the 6-year-old victim’s father went out to buy food at 11.30am while she was asleep in the room.

“When he returned home at 2:30pm, he found his daughter unconscious and rushed her to the Tunku Azizah Hospital at 3.40pm but was later confirmed dead,” he said.

Physical abuse suspected to be cause of death

Zam Halim added that an examination of the victim’s body by the hospital indicated signs of abuse and neglect by the caregiver, leading them to believe that it may have led to the child’s demise.

“The victim’s body was then sent to the Forensic Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for a post-mortem examination.

“The police have also recorded the statement of the victim’s father and further investigations are being conducted under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect,” he said.
