In a heartwarming display of talent, 6-year-old Malaysian boy, Muhammad Nurhaq stole the limelight with his mesmerizing performance of classical Indian dance at a birthday party.
What’s even more jaw-dropping? He never set foot in a dance class – his entire performance was inspired by watching YouTube videos.
Now, that’s what we define as pure talent in the making.
Shared by TikTok user @travelwithbrin, the video captures Nurhaq’s graceful moves, highlighting his dedication to the art form.
Despite the performance not being flawless or professionally trained, his enthusiasm and commitment shine through.
Also, this little performer, well aware of the customary practice of dancing barefoot in Indian classical dance, opted to wear shoes due to the presence of sharp pins on the stage.
In an exclusive interview with WeirdKaya, Nurhaq’s mother, Nadiah, revealed the inspiring backstory.
Notably, Nurhaq’s interest in Indian classical dance developed organically through his love for YouTube videos, including those featuring the globally renowned group Blackpink.
Nadiah shared, “Although he explored various music genres initially, he naturally gravitated towards Indian classical dance.”
This young dancer’s passion led him to request an Indian traditional outfit from his grandfather to enhance his classical performance during the birthday celebration.
When asked about her feelings regarding the positive comments and appreciation from netizens, Nadiah expressed that she takes it all as encouragement.
She clarified, “I don’t set high expectations, considering dance as a hobby. I won’t push him to become a professional dancer unless he himself expresses a desire for expert training.”
Emphasizing her main wish, she shared, “I just want him to enjoy himself.”
What makes Nurhaq’s story even more poignant is his hearing disability since birth, with the prospect of gradually losing hearing in one ear as he grows older.
Despite these challenges, his supportive parents remain steadfast in fostering his self-assurance.
Nadiah expressed, “I want him to gain self-assurance, knowing he can accomplish anything. If dancing brings him joy, we will always be there for him.”
Her perspective reflects a balance between encouraging his talents and allowing him to enjoy the journey without unnecessary pressure.
Regardless of what lies ahead, Nurhaq’s strong family support is undoubtedly propelling him towards greater heights.
Who knows, in the future, Nurhaq could become the next Ramli Ibrahim, a legendary icon renowned for his expertise in Indian classical dance.
