As reported by BuletinTV3, the victim, Faridah Abd Ghani, was taken aback when she experienced the unexpected bite from the animal as she stepped outside her house to do some cleaning duties.

“I just stepped out the door and was surprised when I suddenly felt something bite my left leg.”

Faridah noticed the presence of the over 30-centimeter-long baby crocodile at 6 this morning when he was about to tidy up the veranda of his house.

Initially thought it was a monitor lizard

“It was still early in the morning and dark, I thought it was a lizard that bit at first and immediately called my family member,” she said

“When my son looked closely, he realized that the animal was a crocodile because if it was a lizard, it would have run away.

“But the baby crocodile just opened its mouth before my son covered it with a lid and called the APM (Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia),” he said.

Faridah said that since her house was close to the beach, she had seen a glimpse of a crocodile swimming in the waters of the Tanjung Bidara beach.

“However, this is the first time a crocodile has climbed into a resident’s house and luckily I was not injured,” she said.

Meanwhile, Pegawai Pertahanan Awam Unit Masjid Tanah (UMT), Lieutenant (PA) Shahrul Riza Saiful Bahry when contacted said that the UMT Operations Control Center received an emergency call from the public at 6.04am.

He stated that a team of four members rushed to the location and managed to capture the baby crocodile which is believed to have strayed from its original habitat.

The reptile was then handed over to the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (PERHILITAN) for further action.

“We ask the public to contact APM and not act alone in handling poisonous or dangerous animals to avoid unwanted things,” he said.
